Townhomes, lofts & condos in Bellevue

How the main urban home types compare, so you can focus your search on the one that fits how you live.

Side-by-side comparison

These are general patterns. Every property is different, so always confirm the details for a specific home.

Whether a townhome is fee simple or a condominium affects insurance, financing, HOA responsibilities, and the documents you'll review. It's one of the first things I verify.

Townhomes

Townhome living

Townhomes appeal to buyers who want more space and privacy than a typical condo, without the upkeep of a large detached house. Newer Bellevue townhomes are often three or four levels, with a garage below and living space and bedrooms above.

Questions to ask

  • Is it fee simple or a condominium, and what does the HOA cover?
  • How many stairs, and is there room for a future elevator or a ground-floor bedroom?
  • How much storage, and does the garage fit your vehicles?
  • What's the noise and light like on each level?
Lofts & flats

Loft living

"Loft" can mean different things: a true open-plan space with tall ceilings, a unit with a mezzanine level, or simply a stylish, open layout. In Bellevue, you'll mostly find loft-style homes in mixed-use and residential buildings in and near downtown.

Questions to ask

  • How is sound managed in an open plan?
  • Are there enough enclosed spaces for sleep, guests, or a home office?
  • How will heating and cooling handle tall ceilings and large windows?
  • What are the building's HOA dues and rules?
